Ankit Popli

Head of Product Engineering

I work across product, engineering, architecture, and execution — building software and teams that can grow with the business.

Who I am

I work across product, engineering, architecture, and execution — building software and teams that can grow with the business.

My background sits at the intersection of product, engineering, architecture, and execution. I enjoy taking ambiguous problems, turning them into simple systems, and building teams and technology that can scale with the business.

I have experience across B2B and B2C products, cloud-native platforms, distributed/event-driven systems, developer experience, and engineering leadership. I prefer being close to both the technical details and the business problem rather than operating purely as a management layer.

What I care about

Product Engineering

Technology should solve meaningful customer and business problems, not exist for its own sake.

Systems Thinking

I enjoy understanding how products, people, architecture, incentives, and operations interact as a system.

Engineering Velocity

Good engineering organizations should make it easier to make the right decisions and ship useful things quickly.

Developer Experience

Tools, processes, architecture, and culture should compound the effectiveness of engineers.

Teams

Strong teams are built through ownership, trust, high standards, good hiring, and clarity of purpose.

Currently exploring

I'm particularly interested in how software engineering evolves through AI and autonomous agents. Right now I'm spending time around:

  • Local and private AI models
  • AI agents and agent harnesses
  • MCP and tool ecosystems
  • Shared memory / personal knowledge systems
  • LLM inference infrastructure
  • Model quantization and local inference
  • Developer experience for AI-native software
  • How AI changes the architecture and economics of software products
